Technical Information on Video Creation
- Digitizing Comments - In December 2013 the tapes were digitized to preserve the video for future generations. Digital files in MPEG2 TS format were created with a Hauppage tuner. These files, approximately 8Gb each, have been archived in this format. Digitizing was done with VHS player using composite video source. Quality can be improved in the future by using SVHS player, and S-Video transmission, and TBC to clean output.
- Video Creation- The videos available on this page have been generated in H.264/MPEG-4 AVC format. Two video sizes are now available. The smaller format videos, suitable for streaming to a tablet, are 320x240 at 1,000kpbs. The full size videos, suitable for display on full size TV are 1440x1080 size, 10,000kbps video data rate, 30Fps and 194kbps audio at 48 kHz. Consult the video department for alternative size or quality requests. NOTE: The large format videos are between 3 and 4 Gb each. Download time can be significant if you don't have a fast internet connection.
